What We Offer
Our acute inpatient programs care for individuals experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms. In addition to treatment for mood, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders, care teams at The Shores can help patients with conditions including:
- Schizophrenia
- Schizoaffective disorders (bipolar and depressive types)
- Personality disorders
The Shores can also treat substance use disorders when they co-occur with other mental health disorders — known as a dual diagnosis — including (but not limited to):
- Alcohol use disorder
- Cocaine use disorder
- Opioid use disorder
- Polysubstance use disorder
Comprehensive Healing
At The Shores, treatment focuses on caring for the whole person. Individual and group therapy are trauma-informed and patient-centered, using proven approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and, when appropriate, other evidence-based therapies.
However, mental health care is about more than clinical treatment. From creative arts and skills development to community education, our holistic therapy programs focus on emotional and social healing in a therapeutic environment designed for recovery and healing.
Caring for Patients with Medical Needs
At St. Vincent’s Medical Center, we offer a dedicated inpatient psychiatric unit for patients who need medical support for conditions like a complex medical illness, recent surgery, wound care, and dialysis. This helps patients receive the care they need in one safe, coordinated setting.
Support During and After Treatment
A strong support system can make a big difference in long-term recovery. At The Shores, we work closely with your family, caregivers and the rest of your support network whenever possible so they understand your care plan and how to support your progress.
As you prepare to leave inpatient care, our team will help connect you with outpatient services at The Shores or work with your local care team to create a safe and supportive transition to the next phase of your care.
