How it Works

When you call the Welcome Center, you’ll speak directly with a behavioral health clinician.

During the conversation, you’ll complete a brief, confidential assessment to help us better understand you or your loved one’s needs. From there, we’ll guide you to the right next step.

That may include:

Scheduling an in-person assessment within 24 hours
Starting inpatient care the same day, when appropriate
Connecting you to the continuum of outpatient care at The Shores

Our goal is to connect you with care that fits your unique needs, exactly when you need it.

The Psychiatric Emergency department at St. Vincent’s Medical Center is ready 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to respond to patients experiencing a mental health crisis and needing emergency psychiatric intervention.
