The Patient Referral Process

Make a Referral

To refer a patient to The Shores, please call our Welcome Center. A member of our clinical team will walk you through the assessment process and coordinate next steps to ensure a safe, timely transition in care.

When you call, please be prepared to share:

Referring hospital name and phone number
Referring physician name and contact information
Patient name, age, diagnosis and level of care requested
Insurance details and transfer authorization (waived for patients meeting EMTALA criteria)

Interventional Psychiatry Referral

TMS & ECT Services

For adults with treatment-resistant depression who are currently on antidepressant medication but still experience significant symptoms and have not found relief with traditional medication treatment, healthcare providers can make referrals to the St. Vincent’s Interventional Psychiatry Service for transcranial magnetic stimulation and electroconvulsive therapy services.

An outpatient consultation will be scheduled to discuss current symptoms and determine if TMS or ECT is an appropriate option.
